Magicians to Perform at Fund-Raiser

Top magicians from across the country will perform Saturday at the Civic Arts Plaza’s Forum Theatre to raise money for a local nonprofit organization that provides free housing to some social services for the poor.

“We are extremely fortunate to have these top magicians performing here in Thousand Oaks,” said Christopher J. DePalma, host of the show and a local magician who performs at Disneyland.

“Typically, you would need to go to Las Vegas and pay many times our ticket prices to enjoy this level of performing talent,” DePalma said.

The show will feature Johnny “Ace” Palmer, two-time winner of the Best Close Up honor awarded by the Academy of Magical Arts; Scott Cervine, winner of the Magic Entertainer of the Year award, and Charles and Bobbi Peters, a team that incorporates old Hollywood themes into their show.

A portion of the proceeds will go to Community Conscience, Under One Roof, a nonprofit group formed to house all social services under one roof.

The organization raised money to build the Thousand Oaks Human Service Center, but is still trying to pay off the building’s mortgage.

The center houses 19 nonprofit organizations, which do not pay rent, and five government agencies, which pay fair market value for rent.

Tickets cost between $15 and $25 and can be purchased by calling the plaza box office at 449-2787 or any TicketMaster outlet.
