Firms Offered Tips to Prepare for Disasters

Share

In this land of earthquakes, fires and mudslides, small-business owners must be prepared for the worst.

A workshop on this topic is scheduled for April 25 at Amgen’s Thousand Oaks headquarters. Called “Staying Open for Business After Disasters,” the workshop will teach local business people how to prepare for catastrophes, protect employees and reduce damage to inventory.

The workshop, sponsored by the state Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the Business and Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness, will also focus on keeping a business open in the wake of a disaster.

Participants will learn how to cope with such problems as power failures and transportation disruptions.

Registration costs $10 and includes a three-ring binder of disaster-preparation tips and checklists. To register, contact Jim Gerspach at (714) 496-6992.
