Square Can Display Art Festival Banners

Share

Triangle Square will be allowed to hang promotional banners for an arts festival now that the City Council has reversed a decision barring the business from doing so because it didn’t have a permit.

“I think it was just an honest mistake,” said Mayor Joe Erickson.

The city allows businesses to put up seasonal banners every year, such as those for Christmas and New Year’s, if they are the same banner and they have a permit.

Triangle Square managing partner Rich Shapiro said it believed its banners, promoting an annual arts festival called the “Imagination Celebration,” fell into that category, so no permit was sought.

The council voted unanimously on Monday to allow the banners, a week after a city agency ruled they must come down.
