Teenager Carrying Pistol Arrested
A 16-year-old Port Hueneme gang member was arrested Wednesday and accused of hiding a loaded semiautomatic pistol in his waistband while watching a group of children and adults playing baseball, police said.
Port Hueneme Police Officer Robert Miller and Sgt. Chris Graham were on bike patrol about 5:30 p.m. in Bubbling Springs Park when they noticed the teen kneeling on the grass watching the group play ball. The teen looked nervous when he saw the police, authorities said.
An investigation revealed that the gun had been stolen from a Port Hueneme residence.
The teen, whom police identified as a known gang member, was taken to Ventura County Juvenile Hall.
