Fertility Clinic Truth Sought

Share

Re the March 17 letter from Debra Krahel, the UCI fertility clinic whistle-blower, concerning the undeserved demotion of Andrew Yielding:

It is time that the [University of California] regents abandon their “Star Chamber” mentality and adopt what for them must certainly be fearful and innovative, a policy of seeking and disclosing the truth.

This is not how the people of the state of California should be treated by those in whom we repose our trust, confidence and tax dollars. It is time to stop this mindless, destructive and very expensive madness.

* Re the March 17 letter from James Jones:

I am an attorney who represents a number of former patients of the UC Irvine Center for Reproductive Health whose eggs and embryos were misappropriated.

It should be pointed out that Jones should be correctly identified as a founder of the “public relations group” called “Advocates for Asch.” This group blindly supports Dr. Ricardo H. Asch, who is the former director of the UCI fertility clinic. Jones is also active as a computer consultant who is assisting the attorney who is defending Dr. Asch.

It is hypocritical for a supporter of Dr. Asch to complain about media attention when they have attempted to manipulate the media, by holding press conferences to generate self-serving statements that Dr. Asch is an innocent bystander. The press should actually be complimented for the investigative journalism effort which made this story public.

It is apparent that the true facts will ultimately be presented at trial and that Dr. Asch and the UCI Medical Center, which was responsible for the management and administration of the Center for Reproductive Health, will be held responsible for the emotional turmoil inflicted on the families affected by this outrageous scandal.
