Community Forum to Focus on Beatings
Latino leaders will host a community forum Wednesday to discuss the videotaped beatings of two illegal immigrants at the hands of Riverside County sheriff’s deputies earlier this month in El Monte.
Prompted by dozens of calls of concern, Oxnard-based El Concilio del Condado de Ventura organized the meeting as a way to shed light on police brutality and anti-immigrant sentiment.
Community leaders and representatives of the Oxnard Police Department have been invited to participate.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Oxnard’s Cesar Chavez School, 224 N. Juanita Ave.
For more information, call El Concilio at 983-2336.
