Cold Fronts, Clouds Expected to Hang Around

Share

A cold front hugging the California coast crept into Ventura County on Tuesday, bringing cooler weather, cloudy skies and scattered showers. Two new cold fronts are expected to keep temperatures in the 60s and the county blanketed with clouds through Thursday.

Meteorologists at WeatherData, a private forecasting service, said the city of Ventura was doused by more than a third of an inch of rain Tuesday, though much of the rest of the county received only a tenth of an inch or less.

There is a 30% chance of rain today and a 50% chance of scattered showers Thursday, meteorologists said.

Strong westerly winds made for rough surf, creating 8-foot waves.

The colder, wetter weather was welcome news for flower growers. Carlos Martinez, a flower shipper in Oxnard, said he was delighted by the chill.

“The colder it is, the slower they bloom,” Martinez said of his family’s lavender, blue and green fields of larkspur, delphiniums and baby’s breath.
