Oxnard police have arrested a suspect in Monday’s stabbing of a 13-year-old boy and are searching for several more suspects, authorities said.

Elias Cisneros, 18, was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday without incident at his West Hemlock home in south Oxnard. Cisneros’ bail is set at $20,000, and he is scheduled for arraignment today.

He is suspected of being one of seven gang members who ambushed Anthony Roseby as he walked home from a girlfriend’s house on Hill Street on Monday night.

Roseby was stabbed about 10 times in the back with a knife and possibly an ice pick in front of Haydock Intermediate School. He was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where police said he was in fair condition.

Roseby identified Cisneros from a photo line-up as he lay in his hospital bed, police said.

Less than 24 hours before Roseby’s assault and just two blocks away, Gabriel Gomez Torres, 15, was beaten to death with a blunt object and left in a flower bed beside a house.

Both incidents are believed to be gang-related.
