Teen Comic Festival at Downtown Library
To promote literacy, the Teen Comic Age Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Public Library’s Central downtown branch, 630 W. 5th St.
The festival, sponsored by the Public Library and Motown Animation, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of comic art in America.
Features will include: “LA Teen Comic Art Exhibition,” featuring works by teens; signings by comic-book artists; free comics and posters; and various panel discussions, including the opening address by Michael Davis, president and CEO of Motown Animation and Filmworks.
The opening address, “Literacy and Comix in the Year 2000,” will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Mark Taper Auditorium, first floor, Tom Bradley Wing.
Parking is available for a flat rate of $1 at 524 S. Flower St. Garage with a library card and validation at the library information desk.
