BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : Cedeno Forgot the Count at Plate
Dodger center fielder Roger Cedeno, chastised by the San Francisco Giants and his teammates for trying to steal second base in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s 11-2 rout of the Giants, said Thursday he simply made a mistake.
“The Giants made such a big deal out of it, it was just a mistake,” said Cedeno, who had refused to discuss the incident Wednesday. “I thought the count was three and two with two outs, and you know, you always got to run then. But the count was 2-2. I feel bad, because nothing like that never happened to me before. I didn’t do it on purpose.
“I just don’t know why they got so upset, especially [Giant third baseman] Matt Williams. He wanted to fight with me. I don’t want a fight. I don’t want to fight nobody.”
