Update / * Follow-up on the news : Plan to Standardize Terms Moves Ahead

Share

The terms of appointees to city commissions and committees would be limited under a resolution that won preliminary approval this week from the City Council.

The plan would limit service to two consecutive four-year terms but would not affect the Board of Library Trustees or any committee for which technical expertise is required.

Under the resolution, members of several panels that now specify 2- and 3-year terms would be able to serve for 4 years. Those are: the Community Development Citizens Committee, Airport Noise and Safety Committee, Airport Users Task Force, Bicycle Users Subcommittee, Energy & Resource Management Committee, Investment Committee and Affordable Housing Review Committee.

The goal, council members said, is to standardize commission and committee terms. Members said they expect to take final action in May.
