Edward Lasher; Chemist and Resin Specialist

Edward “Abe” Lasher, 85, innovative chemist who specialized in developing resins. Lasher earned three degrees from UCLA. During World War II, he was instrumental in developing sealants for airplane gas tanks, which were crucial in the success of four-engine bombers including the B-17 and B-24. Lasher was the founder of Specialty Resins Co., which was acquired by Allied Chemical Co. in 1960. He also set up HCI Coatings and Chemical Co. and Roblen Resins & Development Corp. From 1977 to 1993 he operated another personal business, A & A Research Corp. On Tuesday in Beverly Hills.
