Rico Brogna had his right elbow buried in an icepack. New York’s Pete Harnisch had scratches on his face and neck to show for his efforts.

And the Mets won the game.

Despite a fifth-inning brawl that resulted in the ejection of eight players and a coach, including Harnisch, Brogna hit two home runs and had four runs batted in as the Mets beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-6, Saturday at New York.

“It was long and ugly . . . and we got the big hit,” said Harnisch, who got the brawl going by punching Cub catcher Scott Servais in the chest. “I expected to get thrown out, but I’m glad we won the game.”
