O.C.’s Pioneer Families Focus of Special Event
The descendants of some of Orange County’s oldest pioneering families will gather Saturday at Mission San Juan Capistrano for a special reunion during which they will share their heritage and stories of early California.
Among the families attending will be the Forsters, who once claimed ownership of the mission; the Yorbas, who once owned much of north Orange County; and the Bandinis, who once lived in the 1791 Soldier’s Barracks at the mission.
Most of these families have lived in the area for 200 years, mission officials said.
The event--which features a display of historic photographs, a public lecture and lunch--is from noon to 4 p.m. at the mission, 31522 Camino Capistrano. Reservations are suggested. Admission is $4 for adults, and $3 for seniors and children. Information: (714) 361-3155.
