1 Held, 2 Sought in Bungled Bank Holdup
The manager of a Ladera Heights bank was found handcuffed to a filing cabinet after a bungled early-morning robbery attempt Thursday, Los Angeles police said.
One suspect was captured, authorities said, but two others escaped.
A Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team found the manager in the Family Savings Bank on La Tijera Boulevard.
The suspects fired several shots inside the bank, said Dan Cox, an LAPD spokesman.
The manager was not injured and no money was missing, Cox said. The robbers accosted her shortly before the bank opened at 9 a.m. and no customers were inside. Police arrested a man they described as a lookout after he tried to flee on foot across the San Diego Freeway.
