The U.S. road and track teams will be selected after a series of time trials and road races.

Road race schedule: Road race May 19, Seattle; time trial May 22, Martinsburg, W.Va.; road race May 26, Pittsburgh; time trial May 30, Concord, N.C.; road race June 2, Charlotte, N.C.

County connections: Jeff Evanshine (El Dorado High and Cal State Fullerton), who, in 1991, became the first American male since Greg LeMond to win the world junior road race championship. In 1992, Evanshine, now 22, missed the Olympic trials after being suspended 30 days for missing a drug test. Linda Brenneman (Dana Point) is a former national champion roller skater. Brenneman, 30, finished sixth in Olympic selection point standings before the 1992 Olympics.

Track schedule: June 4-9 in Trexlertown, Pa.

County connection: Connie Paraskevin-Young (Corona del Mar) is attempting to qualify for her fifth Olympic team at age 34.
