When You Say Galaxy, You’ve Said It All

Major professional sports--particularly baseball--have been a recent target of criticism for their ongoing relationship with sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch and Miller. The thought here, I assume, is, with substance and alcohol abuse at an all-time high, breweries do not make for a politically correct business partnership. Some clubs went so far as to consider removing beer ads from the stadiums.

While I’ve always thought this solution was akin to curing dandruff by decapitation, I’ve grown used to our society trying to fix its problems with emotional, knee-jerk solutions.

Considering this, I had to laugh when I saw TV highlights of the Galaxy of the new Major League Soccer. Budweiser logos were seen not on the scoreboard, but on the Galaxy’s uniforms.

I am opposed to this, not because I fear it will result in rampant beer consumption among Galaxy fans, but because it’s the cheesiest damn thing I’ve ever seen. What’s next?

Coors logos on Rockies caps?
