Troy Wins Top Prize in Science Contest
Fifteen students from Troy High School in Fullerton claimed the top prize Saturday in a national science competition in Atlanta.
The Science Olympiad Team, which won the state championship last month at Cal State Fullerton, outwitted students from 50 other high schools in the all-day competition, said Joseph Blunschi, whose daughter, Melanie, is on the team.
Events included performing experiments and a “scrambler” competition in which students were asked to build cars that run a specified distance. The contest spanned the sciences, testing students’ skills in biology, botany, chemistry, genetics and physics.
