FBI Seizes 2 Parcels of Land Owned by Russian Banker

A joint investigation between the FBI and Russian law enforcement has culminated in the seizure of two undeveloped parcels of land in the Hollywood Hills owned by a member of a Russian organized crime figure, the FBI announced Monday.

Five months ago the FBI seized the $11.5-million mansion of the banker, Yuri Fadayev.

Russian authorities have arrested several people in connection with the fraud, the FBI said. “These seizures and arrests are the result of a new cooperative effort between the FBI and Russian law enforcement,” said Charlie Parsons, special agent in the charge of the Los Angeles FBI. “It is believed that this is the first successful example of a money laundering case made in any Western country based on information acquired from Russian authorities.”

The seizures are the result of a two-year FBI investigation of Fadayev’s money laundering activities.
