City Will Improve Its Computer System
The city is upgrading its aging computer system to allow people to access City Hall electronically.
The City Council has voted to spend $126,000 to replace the city’s 10-year-old Hewlett-Packard computer system and set up a City Hall web page. Officials said they expect the project to be completed by year’s end.
Among other things, the new system will speed up budget planning and other processes done by computer, City Manager Dave Adams said. It will also allow City Hall employees to e-mail one another, making for more efficient communication, he said.
The computers are expected to arrive within the next few weeks.
Once city employees are trained to use them, Adams said, residents will be able to access City Hall electronically.
