Artist Judy Chicago to Speak After Film on ‘Dinner Party’

“Right Out of History,” filmmaker Johanna Demetrakas’ award-winning film about the making of artist Judy Chicago’s work “The Dinner Party,” will screen Saturday from 9:15-10:30 a.m. as part of a UCLA Extension program from 9 a.m.-5:15 p.m.

Chicago will give her only West Coast talk about the making of her multimedia work at 3:45 p.m. A 30-minute question-and-answer session will follow. Other talks and speakers include: “Spinning and Rising: Ceramics of ‘The Dinner Party,’ ” visual artist Judy Keyes and “Out of the Studio and Into the World” by attorney Diane Gelon.

This program coincides with the exhibition “Sexual Politics: Judy Chicago’s ‘Dinner Party’ in Feminist Art History” at the Armand Hammer Museum of Art in Westwood.

The forum will take place in Moore Hall, Room 100, UCLA. Cost is $45, although a special of $15 is available for those wishing to attend only Chicago’s lecture.
