City Solicits Sponsors for Old Town Project

Share

Calabasas is seeking sponsors to help finance a project to enhance the rustic flavor of Old Town Calabasas, a collection of western-style shops and restaurants on Calabasas Road.

State and federal grants will pay for some of the $1.8-million project, known as the Calabasas Road Streetscapes Improvement Plan, officials said. The city hopes to raise the rest--a total of $20,000--through the sale of special plaques that will be installed around Old Town.

About $8,000 has been raised to date, city officials said.

For $50, donors can have their names inscribed on a common plaque, and for $100, donors’ names will receive individualized nameplates on boardwalk planks to be constructed around Old Town, officials said. For $250, donors can have personalized plaques attached to bicycle “hitching posts.”

For $500, donors can have personalized plaques inscribed with their names at tree sites; and those who give $750 will have individualized plaques attached to lampposts. For $1,000, donors will have individualized plaques installed on wooden benches.

Officials said they plan to begin seeking a contractor next month for the Streetscapes Improvement Plan, which is expected to be complete by year’s end.
