Cleanup Day Targets Graffiti, Trash, Weeds

Share

With their 55 gallons of semigloss latex paint, county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, members of the Mid-Valley Chamber of Commerce and more than 100 Van Nuys residents today will paint the town--the town’s graffiti, that is--beige.

The occasion is the 13th annual Van Nuys Cleanup Day--a volunteer effort to spruce up the area generally bounded by Oxnard Street, Hazeltine Avenue and Sepulveda and Victory boulevards. The volunteers--equipped with paint, rollers, trays and rubber gloves courtesy of Yaroslavsky’s office--will eradicate graffiti, collect trash, clean yards and abate weeds between 7 a.m. and noon.

Last year’s community event drew about 300 participants.

Volunteers for this year’s effort should gather during cleanup hours at Delano Park, 15100 Delano St. in Van Nuys.
