Blowers Doubles His Homer Output

Third baseman Mike Blowers walked up to Manager Tom Lasorda after hitting a two-run homer that started the Dodgers’ 10-3 rout over the New York Mets and told him:

“I told you so.”

“Well, actually,” Lasorda said, “he said, ‘I told you I’d hit another home run for you this season. Maybe I’ll even hit another.’ ”

Blowers, who began Friday’s game with only one homer and 16 RBIs, slammed a two-run homer off the right-field facade at Shea Stadium. It continued his onslaught on this trip, in which he is 10 for 24 (.417) with six RBIs in the last seven games.

“That means the grind is starting to pay off,” Blowers said, who is batting a season-high .246. “My confidence is pretty good now. I’m just starting to believe in myself.

“As bad as things were at the beginning of the season, I believed I’d have good times too.”

Lasorda, who will have a microphone on him during today’s premier Saturday Game of the Week on Fox, said he is fully prepared to make the necessary precautions.

“They won’t hear any profanity out of me,” Lasorda said.
