A German airman was killed and three were injured when their military vehicle flipped over on an unpaved road, officials said Monday.

The accident occurred Saturday about 60 miles east of Las Cruces while the men were scouting a site for war games involving U.S. and European troops, which will begin Saturday.

A spokesman at Ft. Bliss would not give the condition of the injured, but said they were expected to survive.

A New Mexico State Police spokesman said the vehicle was “traveling too fast for road conditions” and that the soldiers were not wearing seat belts.
