Dog Wash Facility Gets Initial OK

Share

A proposal for a dog wash at the city’s “bark park” has won approved from the parks and recreation committee.

Corinne Zartler, a resident who proposed giving dog owners a place to wash their pets before heading home, said such a facility would be particularly useful during the wet winter months.

Because of heavy paw traffic, the city has had difficulty keeping grass on the park site. Zartler said her three hounds don’t mind the mess, but she dreads putting them in the car after an afternoon of romping in the mud.

Zartler proposes to renovate an abandoned building in the park, which is near Newport Boulevard and Arlington Drive, to house the dog wash.

The plan now must be approved by the City Council and the Planning Commission.
