Chamber President Takes Office Early

Share

Lifelong San Fernando Valley resident and executive property manager Carrie E. Konjoyan is the new president of the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce.

Following Judith Davis’ resignation in May for personal reasons, Konjoyan, who previously served as executive vice president and president-elect, took the helm Tuesday. The 39-year-old Encino resident previously was slated to succeed Davis in January 1997.

During her tenure, Konjoyan said she wants the chamber to continue to encourage earthquake recovery, lobby for Valley secession and promote the formation of a Sherman Oaks business improvement district.

“Under my stewardship, the chamber is in full motion toward our annual street fair, and we are also currently celebrating the OK for the Sherman Oaks Galleria to go forward with renovations,” Konjoyan said.

The feisty, staccato-speaking Konjoyan--nicknamed “Tornado”--has been a chamber member since 1988; she heads the anti-graffiti program. She is an executive property manager with the Sherman Oaks-based H & M Konjoyan.

Konjoyan is an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, the area community police advisory board, AIDS Project Los Angeles and AIDS Services Foundation. Konjoyan is also active in First Presbyterian Church of Encino.
