Ventura County’s largest Latino advocacy and multiservice agency plans to install educator Cliff Rodrigues as board president during a ceremony for new officers tonight in Ventura.

A member of El Concilio del Condado de Ventura’s board for the last six years, Rodrigues works as director of media, technology and bilingual education for the Ventura County superintendent of schools. The 55-year-old Ventura resident is also a trustee for the Ventura Unified School District.

“He was one of the original founding members of [the agency],” said Francisco Dominguez, El Concilio’s executive director. “He knows how to set policy and direction to help the organization move.”

The agency will also seat six new board members who will join the other 19 on El Concilio’s board of directors. Five new officers will take over various agency committees.

El Concilio board President Bernardo Perez, a Moorpark city councilman, is stepping down after serving out two consecutive two-year terms.
