South Oxnard Needs More Attention
On June 4, there was a presentation made before the Oxnard City Council regarding a police and fire utility tax.
First of all, I am very much in support of the Oxnard Police Department and the Fire Department, and I am very concerned about crime in our city.
But once again, the residents of south Oxnard are expected to pay more and, as usual, get less. We are to pay more taxes, but lose our library, and pay more taxes, but not benefit from any of the additional after-school programs requested.
Apparently, it is more important to provide Port Hueneme with a library than Oxnard residents. And because most of our schools are in the Hueneme School District, our children are not considered to be worthy of Oxnard after-school programs.
Perhaps the residents of south Oxnard would be better served to petition Port Hueneme to become North Port Hueneme rather than south Oxnard.
