Robber Holds Up Wells Fargo Bank

Share

Continuing the recent string of San Fernando Valley bank robberies, a man held up a branch of Wells Fargo bank Wednesday.

The unidentified man walked into the Van Nuys branch on the 6600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard shortly before 10 a.m. and passed a note to a bank teller demanding cash, said LAPD spokesman Eduardo Fune.

Even though the man was apparently unarmed, police said, the teller followed bank policy and gave the robber an unspecified amount of cash in a bag, after which the robber quickly exited the bank without incident. Police believe the robber fled on foot, since witnesses did not notice a getaway car.

Police have not yet determined if the man fits the profile of any other suspects who have robbed 75 Valley banks since January.

“We know there have been a lot of cases in the Valley lately,” Fune said. “And since a note was used in this robbery, we will see how it compares to other notes used in recent robberies.”

Fune said the FBI and the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Unit are investigating all Valley bank holdups.
