FAILING TO FOCUS ON THE REAL PEOPLE OF L.A.

Share

Well, if it isn’t another L.A.-bashing article, this time courtesy of that paragon of morality, David Mamet (“David Mamet Would Like to Share Some Choice Tidbits,” May 5). I’m sure Mamet can find amoral, sleazy people aplenty in his hometown of Chicago, but no, we have to read about how he hates Hollywood people, especially those who have the nerve to offer changes to his scripts.

Reading so much about morally bankrupt L.A. residents these days makes you want to bang your head against the rubble of our unfinished subway. I’d rather read about L.A.’s real residents, people who work hard, pay their rent and--horror of horrors--ride the buses. The Mamets of the world can rag on Hollywood types at their own fancy dinner parties with their snooty pals, but do we have to read about them?
