Two adults and seven children were injured, two of them critically, in a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon in Long Beach, police said.

The accident occurred when a pickup truck broadsided a van carrying 13 people near the intersection of East 4th St. and Termino Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., Long Beach police said. Neither driver was cited, and the cause of the accident was under investigation.

All of the injured were in the van; the truck’s driver was not hurt.

Three children were taken to St. Mary Medical Center, where two of them, a 9-year-old girl and a 11-year-old boy, were listed in critical condition, hospital spokesman Greg Harrison said. The third child, an 8-year-old girl, was in fair condition.

Harrison said the two girls were thrown from the van and the boy was pinned in one of the van’s doors.

Four other children and the two adults were taken to Long Beach Community Medical Center, police said. A hospital supervisor said all had been treated and released except one child, who was kept overnight for tests.
