Baicher’s Goal Stands for Clash

Jeff Baicher scored in the 14th minute and San Jose cleared three shots off its own goal line to make that goal stand Sunday in a 1-0 victory over the New York-New Jersey MetroStars before 18,404 at Giants Stadium

Michael Emenalo and Missael Espinoza set up Baicher’s second goal, which gave San Jose its second road victory in seven games.

Emenalo found Espinoza alone on the right wing and Espinoza sent a crossing pass to Baicher, who right-footed the ball past goalkeeper Tony Meola from the penalty box.

Clash goalkeeper Dave Salzwedel had five saves.
