City to Hear Appeal Against Gas Station

Share

Because of pressure from several local companies, the Moorpark City Council is scheduled tonight to hear an appeal of a city Planning Commission decision to let a Los Angeles couple build a gas station in an industrial area on the east side of town.

The Planning Commission voted in April to approve a plan by Anna and Zack Boukhari to build a Mobil gas station and mini-market at Condor Drive and Los Angeles Avenue.

But three of the largest companies in the city have appealed the decision, asking the City Council to overturn the commission.

Officials from Kavlico Corp., Teledyne Laars and Aquaria Inc., which each have business and manufacturing operations in that part of town, have objected to the decision because they say the new station will cause too much traffic. They have also said the zoning in that area precludes commercial development.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Moorpark City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave.
