Court Rulings

It has been said that one of the reasons for increased juvenile crime is the poor example set by their elders. I had tended to discount this theory. However, two court rulings do support this thesis.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it is legal for employers to resort to extortion to keep employees from suing them (“Early Retirees Can Lose Rights, Justices Rule,” June 11). The court also ruled that street justice was permissible if the policemen involved disapproved of the “behavior” of the suspect (“Justices Uphold Lenient Sentences in King Beating,” June 14).
