Update / Follow-up on the news : Still No Telecasts of Council Meetings

Share

The current blackout of City Council meeting broadcasts on cable television will continue through the summer, a divided council recently decided.

Since March, the council has been holding its twice-monthly meetings at the Westminster School District headquarters while the council chambers at City Hall are remodeled.

Officials decided to discontinue broadcasts of the meetings while at the temporary locations because of technical difficulties.

Councilwoman Margie L. Rice and Councilman Frank G. Fry Jr. said they have received several calls from residents upset about the situation. Rice and Fry voted to reinstate the broadcasts despite the technical problems, but the council majority voted against them, citing a $15,000 savings.

The council should be back at City Hall in September, officials said, and the broadcasts will resume then. Until then, council meetings will be at 14121 Cedarwood St.
