Seattle Defense Too Much for Splash

Share

Seattle continued its dominance over the Splash with a 7-1 victory Sunday in a Continental Indoor Soccer League match at Key Arena in Seattle.

It was the third time in two seasons the SeaDogs have beaten the Splash. It was also the largest margin of victory in two seasons for Seattle.

Seattle’s strong defense was led by goalkeeper Juan de la O, who made 12 saves. He didn’t give up a goal until the Splash’s Doug Neely slipped one by with about four minutes to play.

The second quarter was one of frustration for the Splash, which got 10 shots but no goals.

Seattle (1-1) had scored two goals each in the first three quarters and Shannon Murphy scored Seattle’s final goal about two minutes into the fourth quarter.

Mirko Castillo had an assist on Murphy’s goal and two of his own. Bruce Broughton had a goal and two assists for Seattle.

The Splash (1-2) travels to Sacramento Wednesday.
