Sydna Scott Thor; Actress in TV Detective Series

Sydna Scott “Scotty” Thor, 82, an actress best known for the 1950s television detective series “Foreign Intrigue.” Thor and her late husband, actor Jerome Thor, portrayed a Sweden-based detective duo who roamed Europe. They are believed to have been the first TV detectives to wear trench coats, and one of theirs is preserved as in the Smithsonian Institution. Born in Chicago, she moved to New York as a teenager to begin her acting career. Orson Welles, who directed Thor on Broadway in “The Native Son,” called her “one of the most rising and promising young actresses in America.” She appeared in other Broadway productions, including “The Man Who Came to Dinner” and “He Who Gets Slapped,” in more than 100 television shows and in several feature films, including “Circus World,” “Avenging Angel” and “Ten to Midnight.” On Sunday in Los Angeles of cancer.
