Kinkoroo: Soon the Paul Hogan fan club in Perth can go to a strip mall and videoconference with the club in Brisbane. Kinko’s, Ventura’s own global ambassador of business gizmos, is opening a chain of outlets in Australia. . . . A Sydney shop debuts later this year and the rest of the country follows shortly. Kinko’s already operates in the Netherlands, Canada, Japan and South Korea.

Hip, Too: Fortune magazine recognizes Kinko’s in the July 8 issue--not for earnings, but for being one of the 25 coolest companies in the country. . . . “Hip, Hot, ‘N’ Happening” cites Kinko’s for remaining vital in an age when almost anyone can buy a color desktop copier. “We’ve come a long ways,” says spokeswoman Laura McCormick. Though, really, nothing could be cooler than a kinky-maned founder who started out hawking copies to hippies at UC Santa Barbara from an old hamburger stand.

Tennis Ace: Wayne Bryan is not only the hottest show in tennis in Somis, he’s one of the hottest shows in tennis, period (C10). . . . The pro tour has hired the charismatic Cabrillo Racquet Club co-owner to stage youth clinics with stars like Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. “It’s amazing,” club manager Bob Burke says. “I pick up the phone . . . and it’s, ‘Bob, this is Donald Dell for Wayne.’ Or, ‘This is Stan Smith for Wayne.’ I’m just blown away.”

CSUCI: California State University Channel Islands is what the state chancellor wants to call the eternally pending Ventura County college campus (B1). . . . The nearest island is a healthy 20 miles from university property, but Thursday’s announcement coincided with a fitting rarity: a summer day so strangely clear that the Channel Islands were actually visible from shore.
