Council to Consider Proposed Gas Station

Share

A hotly contested proposal to build a gas station at the corner of Condor Drive and Los Angeles Avenue is scheduled to come before the Moorpark City Council again tonight.

The council will hear an appeal of a Planning Commission decision that granted a Los Angeles couple permission to open a gas station, with small convenience store, in an industrial area. Several businesses in the industrial area complained that gas stations do not belong on property zoned for industrial uses and could lead to vandalism of existing businesses by bringing people into the area late at night.

On June 18, council members took testimony from representatives of several local businesses opposed to the project before postponing the final vote on the appeal. City planners have recommended that council members deny the appeal and allow construction of the gas station.
