City Council Grants Residents’ Request for Speed Controls

Residents along Peppertree Drive have won in their bid to have speed-control humps installed between Lambert Road and Brea Boulevard.

Homeowners requesting the project had cited excessive speeding and reported incidents of reckless driving in the area, officials said.

Speed-control humps differ from speed bumps commonly found in parking lots in that they are 2 inches to 4 inches tall and allow cars to pass at speeds of 15 to 25 miles an hour.

The City Council approved the project, which will cost the city about $6,000.

Lee Everett, who lives on Peppertree Drive, said he was pleased to see the plan approved.

“Several years ago a car was going too fast and drove right into my house,” he said.
