The Lomita City Council has selected a new city manager.

Bradbury City Manager Keene Wilson has been named for Lomita’s top job. Wilson, 48, has spent the last three years as the city manager of the small San Gabriel Valley community near Arcadia. He said he is taking the position because Lomita is a much larger city and offered more opportunity.

“Working in Bradbury has been great, but I’m looking forward to a new challenge,” Wilson said. “My goal is to work with the City Council on economic development in Lomita.”

Lomita has an $8-million budget compared with Bradbury’s $350,000. Lomita has 40 full-time employees while Bradbury has three.

Wilson has 22 years of experience in city government. He has worked as the assistant city manager in Glendora, a public works director in Lawndale and has also held administrative positions in Irvine and Inglewood.

The position was vacated by Walker Ritter in February when he retired after 14 years with the city.

Wilson will start his new job Aug. 12.
