Man Arrested in Tustin Knife Attack
A 22-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of stabbing his former girlfriend’s stepfather, in the chest with a 12-inch knife, an Orange County sheriff’s spokesman said.
Herminio Rodriguez had gone to see the woman at a home in the 12900 block of Newport Avenue in Tustin about 12:30 a.m., but her stepfather wouldn’t let him, Lt. Ron Wilkerson said.
The 44-year-old stepfather was stabbed numerous times in the chest but survived, Wilkerson said. No information was available Friday on his condition.
The victim’s family got a description of the suspect’s car, and Santa Ana Police Officer Dan Pitocco later spotted the brown station wagon and arrested Rodriguez, authorities said.
The victim’s name was not released.
Rodriguez was being held Friday on suspicion of attempted murder at Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
