Police sought clues Saturday in the beating of a man who was thrown from the second floor of a parking garage after interrupting a burglary.

Three men were burglarizing a car late Thursday in 3400 block of Via Lido when Todd Coker, 24, of Yorba Linda came upon them, Newport Beach Police Lt. Andy Gonis said. The suspects struck Coker and threw him to the sidewalk about 15 feet below, Gonis said.

Coker was found unconscious by passers-by at 1:15 a.m. and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he remained in serious condition.

The second suspect is Latino, about 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds, with dark hair and wearing a bandanna. The third is white, 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds, with a shaved head and acne.

Gonis said anyone with information should call Newport Beach police at (800) 550-NBPD.
