Disney Online Names Senior VP of Technology

Richard Wolpert has been named senior vice president of technology at Disney Online, where he will oversee the technology production of all new Disney Online products.

“Disney Online is fortunate to have landed such a technically savvy and creative person,” said Jake Winebaum, president of Disney Online. “His involvement will ensure that Disney Online’s products remain technically superior as well as ensuring cohesiveness across the product line.”

Wolpert previously was president of Chance Technologies, where he was responsible for the conception and development of a variety of technology products, including a joint venture with Interlink Electronics that developed an interactive remote control aimed at the convergence between television and the Internet.

Disney Online, a new business unit of Disney Interactive, was founded in September to develop a variety of family-oriented online products. Disney Online’s first offering, Disney.com, was launched on the World Wide Web in February.
