Minnesota Twin outfielder Kirby Puckett is scheduled for invasive eye surgery on Friday that is designed to remove the blood that remains in the eye, which has caused blurred vision.

Puckett has missed the entire season by the problem, which doctors say was caused by glaucoma. Laser surgery has been performed, but the vision has improved only to 20/80.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that Puckett had told friends: “This is it. We’ll know one way or the other--whether I can play--soon after this.”
