Woman Stabbed in Kidnapping Escape

Oxnard police are looking for a man who kidnapped a 22-year-old Oxnard woman and stabbed her in the back.

The woman, who has asked not to be identified, was using a public telephone at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West 7th Street when a man in a car approached and asked if she needed a ride, police said. She said “No.”

Moments later, the man, described as about 25 years old, returned and accosted the woman from behind, pushed her into a 1970s-model, two-door sedan, then drove off, police said.

The woman struggled with the kidnapper, who had a knife, and suffered a stab wound to her back and several small cuts. She escaped by jumping out of the moving car, police said.

The woman was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
