Szimanski Goes on Disabled List

Reliever Tom Szimanski has been placed on the disabled list after aggravating the sore right shoulder that kept him out for two recent weeks.

Szimanski returned last week, but when he was warming up in the bullpen Wednesday his shoulder bothered him again.

“I just think I came back too quick,” Szimanski said. “It’s frustrating but what can I do? I’ve been injured before. I know what it’s about. It’s just important to get rest.”

Szimanski will be out about two more weeks. Manager Dave Brundage said there were no plans to immediately replace him on the roster, so the JetHawks will have only five relievers available for at least the next few days.

Chris Beck and Jeff Pearce, whose MRIs came back negative this week, will be out for at least another week, probably two weeks for Pearce.

Second baseman Chris Dean has been running and taking batting practice this week. He is expected back from a hamstring injury in a week. . . . Marino Santana will pitch for the JetHawks on Friday at San Bernardino after an off-day today. Trey Moore and Brett Hinchliffe each will miss a turn in the rotation.
