An Anaheim man died early Sunday when two cars slammed into the Buick station wagon he was driving, after he ran a red light at La Palma Avenue and East Street, authorities said.

Police declined to identify the man, pending notification of his relatives.

According to Anaheim police spokesman Thomas Lahmon, the accident occurred about 8:15 a.m. when the Buick, traveling north on East Street, was struck by two cars driving through the intersection on La Palma.

The driver of the Buick was trapped in his car and pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers were taken to area hospitals with unspecified injuries, as were the drivers of the other two cars.
