Community Project Seeks Volunteers

Share

The West Ventura Community Pride Project is looking for volunteers to become community activists.

Those interested are asked to take a six-week training session during which they will learn about government resources available to neighborhoods, such as beautification and gang prevention programs.

The Community Pride Project is a city- and county-funded program aimed at helping residents improve their neighborhoods.

“We’re looking to train people to be specialists in their communities,” said program coordinator Roberta Payan. “They will be able to help refer neighbors to programs that they need, like emergency housing, food banks or job training.”

Anyone can apply, Payan said.

“We want everyday people who share the same concerns as their neighbors,” she said. “People who want to go back and help improve their communities and make them better, stronger and more unified.”

The training sessions will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays at Ventura City Hall between Aug. 8 and Sept. 12.

For more information, call Payan at 658-4704.
